Wednesday’s Child Foundation, Inc. (WCF) funds opportunities to children in foster care throughout the state of Oregon. Our goal is to provide children with positive, motivational opportunities to enhance their self-esteem, and fulfilling life experiences they can take pride in and learn from. Thanks to generous contributions from private and corporate giving, we are able to fund activities which may be team-oriented in nature or offer individual growth. These activities range from after-school sports, drama, band and chess clubs to lessons in art, music, dance, photography and therapeutic horseback riding. We also fund a variety of club memberships including 4H, bowling, sewing, scrapbooking and fitness. Wednesday’s Child Foundation, Inc. also makes it possible for children in Oregon foster care to create memories at summer camp or be reunited with their siblings in specialized weeklong camps.
For more than 23 years, Jeff has featured foster children on the news. His “Wednesday’s Child” segment has led to hundreds of children being adopted. He started Wednesday’s Child Foundation, Inc. to help children in foster care.
It’s the most rewarding part of my career and life.
Grants to children are decided on a case-by-case basis once requests are reviewed by a Services to Children and Families liaison and submitted to the WCF board for final approval. The average financial request is about $300, although more funds may be offered by the board if it feels additional finances are necessary. The board solicits funds throughout the year through grants and private and corporate donations.
